Is a heat pump the same as air conditioning?
Pretty much, yes. A reverse-cycle heat pump is air conditioning that also heats. The unit you'd buy for cooling in summer is the same one that warms the house in winter, just running the other way. So when people say heat pump or air con here, they usually mean the same bit of gear.
Can a heat pump cool and dehumidify my house in summer?
